Mimecast takes over Simply Migrate for easier data migration

Mimecast announced today that it has taken over Simply Migrate. The company that offers e-mail and data security thus takes over the provider of data migration technology. With the acquisition, Mimecast’s portfolio will become much more extensive.

Mimecast expands its migration services with the portfolio of Simply Migrate and thus offers new connectors. Simply Migrate aims to help organizations extract their data from outdated archives and move it to the cloud. Mimecast responds to this with its cloud offerings and data protection capabilities.

By extracting their data from outdated archives, companies could save costs. It also helps protect intellectual property, preserve institutional memory, and accelerate eDiscovery and compliance. The cost and complexity of legacy data migration is one of the main obstacles preventing companies from moving as quickly to cloud archives like Mimecast.

The acquisition of Simply Migrate should help customers or interested parties to switch to the Mimecast cloud faster, cheaper and more reliable. In a statement, Peter Bauer, CEO of Mimecast, states that many legacy archiving systems are completely obsolete. They are also often unable to cope with the growth and ever-changing demands of a modern company, according to Bauer. Many organizations struggle with the growing email storage volumes, as well as other unstructured data types, combined with the costs and management associated with on-premise storage.

For that reason, Mimecast is now taking over Simply Migrate. This way, customers can enjoy the benefits of the Mimecast Cloud Archive, according to Bauer. Simply Migrate’s technology is aimed at enabling end-to-end migration to the Mimecast Cloud Archive, reducing costs and also operational complexity. Combined, this ensures superior results with more flexible access to data, case management, supervision and more.
