Juniper Networks launches new solutions within Connected Security offering

Juniper Networks has launched two new solutions within its Connected Security range. It is a solution that combines the Contrail Enterprise Multicloud and cSRX firewall, and a solution that integrates the company’s security intelligence (SecIntel) with the MX-series routers.

The combination of Contrail Enterprise Multicloud and the cSRX firewall provides a solution with a complete set of functions for orchestration, automation, security and data analysis. This solution is also suitable for production environments and ensures a cost-efficient implementation of dynamic network services within container environments.

In combination with the cSRX firewall, Contrail can create extremely small micro-segments that have highly secure network edges. The solution can quickly provide network function chains for the protection of each micro-segment, allowing complete service chains to be built within seconds.

This allows micro-segments to be put into production faster than containers or virtual machines that are part of the application that needs to be secured.

Firewall

The cSRX firewall also provides points within the network that enforce security rules in places where they were not previously available. According to Juniper Networks, the firewall also offers extensive network security for Docker containers. Contrail makes the addition of the security points transparent for application developers.

The cSRX firewall also improves the overview on the network. This should enable organizations to respond more quickly to threats.

Finally, individual, containerized applications or microservices can be made available in combination with their own next-generation firewall. If desired, this can even be done with a complete chain of security services.

SecIntel

Also new is the integration of SecIntel in MX-series routers. According to Juniper Networks, this integration creates a whole new layer of network security. This blocks command & control traffic that Juniper Sky ATP and Juniper Threat Labs detects. Tailor-made blacklists are also applied at the level of the network hardware.

Juniper Networks emphasizes that it is not necessary for organizations to invest in new hardware in order to use the possibilities. With a few lines of configuration code and an update to the latest version of the Junos software, the integration can be used.
