Alibaba Cloud will further expand the reach of its public cloud environment through Equinix’s data centers. With this partnership Alibaba gets better coverage in in Europe. Both parties recently signed a partnership agreement for this purpose.
As part of the partnership, the public cloud environment of the Chinese tech giant will be expanded to 17 new global large urban (metro) locations. With this, the tech giant wants to reach more markets for its public cloud environment and, of course, for the related services.
Data center interconnection
Equinix provides access to private data center interconnection for the expansion of Alibaba Cloud. For this purpose, Equinix provides its Platform Equinix and Equinix Cloud solutions. These solutions are especially suitable for companies that want to switch to hybrid and multicloud environments with as little latency as possible.
Alibaba Cloud integrates its API with Equinix ECS Fabric. This will enable customers to easily set up and manage their own on-demand private connections to a total of 45 different Equinix ECS metro environments. Customers of the Chinese public cloud environment will have access to the various computer, big data and other services.
Cloud regions and markets
The partnership extends access to Alibaba Cloud to the regions and markets of Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Jakarta, London, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. United States regions that have access are Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Seattle, Silicon Valley and Washington D.C.
