Colt Technology Services, the global high-bandwidth connectivity systems provider, has deepened its partnership with IBM, in a deal that will see IBM Cloud included in the Colt edge platform. IBM Cloud Satellite systems are used by companies to make use of consistent and secure sets of cloud services like AI, security, and automation.

The workloads can be in the public or private cloud, on-premises, or at the edge. Combining the deployment flexibility of IBM Cloud Satellite with its edge platform Colt is working towards low-latency-dependent customer use cases that make use of AI, 5G, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The plan

The use cases can then be deployed across the Colt IQ Network, which has more than 29,000 on-net buildings and 900 datacenters, as well as its customer and network edge locations.

The Colt IQ Network is designed to offer customers better performance, more control, scalability, and flexibility. This is a great option for those running a fully owned and operated dense fiber network for enterprises. They can benefit from the end-to-end cloud connection offered.

Colt has committed itself to collaborate with cloud service providers in a three-year strategy that aligns with the Colt IQ Network rollout.

Colt’s IQ Network rollout

Where enterprises require more cloud connectivity, Colt will be there. It believes that with the deeper relationship with IBM combined with on-demand networking and secure SD-WAN offerings, its customers can achieve the digital transformation they want with ease.

To make the relationship even more expansive, Colt will use an IBM network services model and telco industry services integrator IBM Global Business Services to offer continuous delivery, integration and accelerate the evolution of its virtual networking product portfolio.

Colt hopes that this will make the migration of mission-critical apps to the cloud risk-free among other things.
