Logitech has recently launched a new device known as Logitech Swytch, a small-sized cable that enables the use of conference rooms with any video platform.

Conference room hardware kits like Zoom Rooms and Microsoft Teams Rooms become compatible with any video conferencing service by using the cable to connect a laptop to the conference room hardware kits.

The Swytch USB connector enables the projection of a laptop screen with clear audio and a high resolution of up to 4000 pixels. This is possible because of its ability to consolidate HDMI and USB into one cable while providing native support for any external video conferencing platform, streaming software, or webinar. 

A promising improvement

Scott Wharton, the VP & General Manager at Logitech, said, “Most room solutions are great and have made strides in becoming easier to use, but it’s often difficult to join meetings with any video service you want.” 

He also added that joining video calls via different platforms would become much more manageable if different video platforms are made available everywhere.

Video conferencing rooms could prove valuable following the shift from office to remote working, which has seen many employees adopt video conferencing.

Expect it soon

The Swytch device requires a laptop to be using USB 3.0 and higher with Type A or C and DisplayLink drivers. IT administrators can also manage the device as it is compatible with Logitech Sync (A cloud-based platform that helps users monitor and manage their Logitech video conferencing devices).

Other meeting room devices that can also be monitored and managed include Logitech MeetUp, Rally, and Tap.

The marked price for this new device will be $999, and customers from all over the world can expect it towards the end of this month.
