Commvault protects data in the cloud with Cisco HyperFlex backups

Commvault, the provider of solutions for backup, data recovery, archiving and cloud computing for hybrid environments, has made its IntelliSnap snapshot technology suitable for Cisco’s HyperFlex hyper-converted systems.

According to the supplier, the combination makes it possible for companies and organizations to protect the workloads of their applications and their virtual machines directly on their Cisco systems. This eliminates the need for these end users to use special third-party tools. In addition, the combination of both systems means that applications and workloads can now move more quickly between all possible infrastructure plators of the network infrastructure specialist when business conditions demand it. Of course, this also leads to more cost savings, Commvault and Cisco indicate.

Expansion of ScaleProtect with Cisco UCS

The partnership between Commvault and Cisco is an extension of the latter’s ScaleProtect with Cisco UCS solution. The solution is comprised of a broad ecosystem of integrated public cloud environments and should extend the capabilities of the Cisco HyperFlex platform with backup and data recovery functionality. This creates a multi-client platform that can be supplemented with other business-critical applications, such as SAP HANA.

This way, end users can be sure that when running their applications on Cisco’s HyperFlex infrastructure, their applications and data remain optimally available and that they are backed up. According to both parties, the combination of ScaleProtect and Cisco UCS should lead to a scale-out software defined solution. This final solution features enterprise backup and data recovery functionality and integrated protection for the intent-based data center.
