WooCommerce, the popular eCommerce plugin, has expanded its payment services to cover four new countries as part of its strategy to reach more retailers and SMBs across the globe.

The countries include Germany, France, Spain, and Italy, where users can now access the WooCommerce solution, allowing direct payments from the store’s dashboard. The firm also included support for multiple currencies, allowing customers to shop in a whopping 135 currencies.

Before now, merchants had to use additional plugins to support more currencies. European Union users will be happy to hear that WooCommerce now supports Sofort and Giropay.

A footprint in Europe

Merchants in the bloc will now be able to accept payments made from bank debits/direct debits, which are popular in specific countries, in addition to existing systems.

WooCommerce’s CEO, Paul Maiorana, commented on the expansion saying that it will allow the plugin to operate in even more markets and add more functionality to establish itself as the premier global payment solution.

Merchants in the countries added can use all the newest features to produce seamless experiences that follow simple processes. The company also added that the local payments methods will help the business expand.

WooCommerce promises there’s more to come

Earlier this August, WooCommerce payments expanded into more English-speaking countries, including Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

WooCommerce Payments is free to install and plans to launch in even more countries, as well as add support for more local payments throughout 2021.

The company commented further that with more than 1 billion shopping sessions daily across Google, the integration will help the merchants connect with shoppers looking to discover new brands.
