First Dynabook laptops appear on the European market

The Portégé X30-F and Tecra X40-F are the first laptops to appear on the European market under the Dynabook label, since Toshiba changed its name immediately in April of this year. The devices focus on the business user.

Toshiba Client Solutions (TCS) has been part of the Sharp Group since October last year and changed its name to Dynabook Inc. at the beginning of this year. The name change was also implemented in Europe in April and the first devices under the new brand name were launched today.

The new generation of Portégé X30-F and Tecra X40-F are equipped with Windows 10 Modern Standby, which offers the same fast on-off experience that users are used to from their smartphone. Modern Standby uses any available network connection to stay online and up to date at all times. Dynabook combines this with wake on fingerprint to get the devices out of sleep mode even faster.

Intel Optane

The laptops contain the latest 8th generation Intel Core i processors (Whiskey Lake), as well as the new Intel Optane Memory. Optane learns which functionalities are used the most and then accelerates these processes. This way, common tasks can be carried out more quickly. Dynabook is also convinced that a new S-Type fan provides better cooling at a lower rotation speed, so that the devices operate more quietly.

Wifi 6

In addition, both devices are equipped with Wifi 6 (802.11ax). Although the benefits are limited as long as Wifi 6 is not widespread on the network side, it is a forward-looking choice of Dynabook to support the standard.

Finally, the necessary attention has also been paid to security. The Portégé X30-F and the Tecra X40-F feature a proprietary BIOS, TPM 2.0 security chip and specific security applications such as Secure Launch and System Management Mode.

The laptops will be available from August 2019. Advice prices have not yet been provided.
