Dell expands its business laptop series with the 15-inch Latitude 9510. The PC manufacturer advertises up to 30 hours of autonomous use depending on configuration. In addition, it is one of the first laptops with 5G support.

The Latitude 9510 is Dell’s smallest and lightest business laptop in its class. It has an aluminum chassis and weighs approximately 1.45 kilograms in its lightest configuration. The 15.6-inch screen has a full HD resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels.

5G

Support for 5G is provided by an antenna built into the speakers. It operates in the sub-6 GHz spectrum and promises speeds from 100 to 900 Mbps. Millimeter wave support may also be added in future laptops, allowing for even higher speeds.

However, 5G is only part of the connectivity story. Dell also offers support for Wifi 6, which some experts believe is at least as important for the future of wireless connectivity.

30 hours of battery life

As usual, Dell offers numerous configuration options. A fully featured Latitude 9510 comes with a tenth generation Comet Lake Core i7 (the non10-nm but-14-nm tenth generation), combined with 16GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage.

Depending on the configuration, Dell also promises up to 30 hours of autonomous use on a single battery charge. Such claims can almost always be taken with a grain of salt, but we are curious to see how this will translate into practice.

AI

The Latitude 9510 uses machine learning to identify the most commonly used applications and adjust the available computing power accordingly. Another AI feature automatically adjusts the relevant Windows settings to save energy when the battery is low.

The Latitude 9510 will be available as a classic clamshell or a 2-in-1, when it comes on the market at the end of March. The laptop will be presented at this month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, along with the new version of the XPS 13 consumer laptop, which will be equipped with 10nm Ice Lake processors from Intel.
