The updates enable more autonomous infrastructure management on-premises and in the cloud.

Dell has announced new AIOps Capabilities, including the new CloudIQ support for PowerEdge servers and PowerSwitch networking. The changes now cover all of Dell EMC-branded infrastructure portfolio. This allows for more intelligent AIOps capabilities, including new levels of automation.

CloudIQ is an AI and machine learning-based cloud service monitoring and predictive analytics application. It is available as a SaaS offering for Dell’s IT infrastructure. Products in Dell’s product range are fitted with sensors which send state and activity information to CloudIQ. The software then analyses the patterns in the trillions of data points. It checks if a customer’s infrastructure components are working optimally and whether they are running out of any resource.

With this latest move, the company is moving closer to enabling so-called artificial intelligence operations, or AIOps. This will make it possible for organizations to access operational data and use it to automate infrastructure technology management.

Making on-premise systems more automated

In a blog post, Jeff Boudreau, president and general manager of Dell’s Infrastructure Solutions Group, explained the move. “With AIOps-driven autonomous operations as part of your IT strategy, you get deeper access to operational data and the ability to act on it through automation at the infrastructure level,” Boudreau said.

This should relieve the IT-staff to focus on more valuable activities. Management is taken out of the equation, so they can focus on security audits, app development or other new business opportunities.

With the support for PowerEdge servers and PowerSwitch networking, CloudIQ now spans the entire Dell EMC portfolio. This included hyperconverged/converged infrastructure, compute, storage, networking and data protection.

The addition of support for PowerEdge and PowerSwitch lowers risk and improves IT productivity by monitoring multiple OpenManage Enterprise consoles for PowerEdge servers and proactively monitoring all PowerSwitch networking in a single view.
