The preview of Windows 11 23H2 has a separate section for system apps in the settings menu. This would separate system apps from components.
An interesting change has been made in the settings menu in the new 22621.2500 build, an X user has discovered. In the menu, the default applications set for Windows 11 get their own section or “System Components” option within the “System” menu.
When the Systems Components component is opened, all the default applications in Windows 11 appear.
System Components addressed more often
This is not the first time Microsoft has addressed the default system applications in Windows 11. In July of this year, the default applications in the Dev Channel were given the “System” label, where previously they had the “Microsoft” label.
In August, the option was added for uninstalling system applications in the Windows 11 Canary channel. The same month within the Dev Channel, system components could be launched via the user’s browser of choice from then on. The latter only in the European Economic Area (EEA).
The announced changes should take effect in the Microsoft Windows 11 23H2 version that will be available later this quarter. Meanwhile, several new features of this upcoming Windows 11 version are already known.
