OpenAI’s GPT Store won’t go live until 2024

The launch of OpenAI’s own app store for so-called GPTs, the GPT Store, will be delayed until next year. This is what Axios reports. The main reason appears to be that the recent soap surrounding CEO Sam Altman interrupted the day-to-day operations of the AI company.

The launch of recently announced GPT Store, in which specific AI solutions and applications will be available under the name GPTs, has been delayed. It is likely that this marketplace will get its introduction in early 2024. This was reported by Axios based on a memo allegedly sent to users and developers.

In the same memo, OpenAI also announced some improvements to the GPT Store, including better configuration options and some bug fixes.

Recent management crisis cause

According to OpenAI, the delay is said to be due to “unexpected issues that have preoccupied us.” Almost certainly the AI company is referring to the recent management crisis in recent weeks surrounding CEO Sam Altman.

Currently, users can already exchange GPTs with each other, but these apps are not yet publicly available. Also, developers cannot yet participate in a revenue model, if OpenAI comes up with one, until the app store actually becomes operational.

Also delay other tools

OpenAI’s GPT Store is not the only AI tool delayed this week until early 2024. It also happened to competitor Google’s AI chatbot Gemini. It was said to still require some tinkering to improve the quality of answers in a language other than English.
