Microsoft reveals price tag for it Windows Cloud PC

One of the “lower end” SKUs will apparently cost you $31 per user, per month.

At Microsoft Inspire 2021, the company revealed the pricing for its new Windows 365, a cloud operating system service that will allow you to stream Windows 10 or Windows 11 to any device.

Windows 365 is a new service that will let businesses access Cloud PCs from anywhere, streaming a version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 in a web browser. While virtualization and remote access to PCs has existed for more than a decade, Microsoft is betting on Windows 365 to offer Cloud PCs to businesses just as they shift toward a mix of office and remote work.

Windows 365 will work on any modern web browser or through Microsoft’s Remote Desktop app, allowing users to access their Cloud PC from a variety of devices. You’ll be able to have the Windows experience wherever you go with whatever device you have – iPad, Mac, or Android-powered tablet, etc.

Microsoft lets some pricing info slip 2 weeks ahead of schedule

Microsoft launched its Windows in the cloud offering on July 14. But on launch day, officials declined to reveal the pricing. Instead, officials said, Microsoft will share pricing closer to the general availability date of August 2 for the service.

Well, it looks like that day came this week.

There will be two editions of Windows 365: Business and Enterprise. Both are powered by Azure Virtual Desktop, and individual Cloud PCs can be configured with a single CPU, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage at the low-end, all the way up to eight CPUs, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage.

During a session at Inspire, a Microsoft presenter revealed that for the price of $31 per month, users can get 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and 2vCPU.

In a statement to The Verge, a Microsoft spokesperson elaborated on the reveal. “This is pricing for just one SKU,” they said. “Microsoft will have many more options, both in terms of configurations and price points, to share when the product becomes generally available on August 2nd.”
