Splunk takes over SignalFX for over a billion dollars

Splunk announces that it has acquired SignalFX, a provider of cloud monitoring and predictive analytics tools. The acquisition will help Splunk become a leader in cloud observation and application performance monitoring in the marketplace.

The deal of 1.05 billion dollars (about 946 million euros) consists of a cash payment (60 percent) and a payment in shares of Splunk (40 percent). According to SiliconAngle, the features that SignalFX brings to Splunk are a number of tools for real-time cloud monitoring, predicitive analytics and generally services that allow companies to better monitor and analyze their IT systems. In addition, these tools are suitable for both the cloud and on premise.

The real-time observation is important, Splunk emphasizes in the blog post. Real-time monitoring of any type of data must be possible on any scale. This is something Splunk hopes to work towards with the acquisition of SignalFX. The ultimate goal of the acquisition is to help companies save costs and time and improve customer experience.

One platform for all data

The company wants to respond to this with an integrated platform that keeps the monitoring and analysis of data clear.
