Red Hat has made an update to Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes, generally available. It extends the reach of the Kubernetes management framework and brings support for Azure Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated and on-premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters running on IBM system Z and OpenStack.
Also, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes now supports Open Policy Agent (OPA). OPA is open source and its use is being advanced by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).
The compliance-as-a-code capability is being enhanced by adding policies applicable across many Kubernetes clusters to prevent things like configuration drift.
What’s in the update?
The latest update of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes has been integrated with another open-source continuous delivery (CD) platform developed by CNCF (Argo CD).
Integrating with Argo CD ensures that compliance and configuration policies are applied in the entire GitOps workflow process to automate app delivery in a Kubernetes environment.
Dave Lindquist, the GM, and Veep of engineering for hybrid cloud management at Red Hat says that Red Hat Advanced Cluster management is designed to enforce policies and offer observability into how application services get deployed across a fleet of Kubernetes clusters.
IT teams need a solution
As IT teams start deploying Kubernetes clusters at scale, they need to logically manage all of them. Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes comes with dashboards made using Grafana software, for smoothly presented visibility into a hybrid cloud computing environment based on Kubernetes.
Many IT teams are in the early stages of Kubernetes deployment across many platforms. As the number of clusters goes up, it becomes clear that hybrid cloud computing using a platform that can surface a common set of APIs is the answer.
With the new updates made generally available, the management of multiple clusters will now be simpler.
