Always Connect PC has according to Microsoft the future

As far as Microsoft is concerned, the Always Connected PCs are the future of business devices. The company is doing its best to create more Windows 10 devices with built-in LTE chips for business users. Currently, mobile devices are still scarce, but this is rapidly changing.

During the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2018 in Taipei and Shenzhen, according to the site ZDNet, a hard campaign was added for the Always Connected devices. These are usually laptops with a built-in LTE chip, which uses a SIM card or an esim card to enable connectivity. Most Microsoft computers and partner companies do not have a built-in LTE chip, but according to Microsoft that will change.

When Microsoft first introduced Windows 10 devices with an ARM processor, the Always Connected computers were mentioned as a unique product category. However, the narrative is shifting, because Erin Chapple, who works as vice president of Windows Server, Always Connected PCs and OS Platform Technologies, tells us that a modern device is a Always Connected PC for us today.

The constant ability to connect, even on the go, is what Microsoft is recommending to its manufacturers today. Whereas for consumers it is simply a nice extra, Microsoft considers it to be nothing less than a necessity for business users. It is still important to talk about consumers, says Chapple, but the future opportunities lie in the commercial category.
