Snowflake recently released dedicated data solutions for the government and education sectors with Government & Education Data Cloud. These solutions include its own cloud-based data platform, partner solutions and industry-specific datasets.
The introduction of Government & Education Data Cloud solutions joins the ranks of the many sector-specific data solutions Snowflake is rapidly releasing. With the solutions now introduced, the data specialist is now moving into the public and education sectors. For now, however, it has developed them only for the U.S. federal government.
Better leveraging data for citizens
Government & Education Data Cloud should enable public and educational institutions to better utilize their large, often siloed, pools of interesting and useful data to better serve citizens and pupils or students.
Examples include the safer sharing and collaboration of data between government agencies or the better aggregation of (education) data for better service delivery.
Collaboration with partners
Under the hood, the government data solution consists of Snowflake’s own Snowflake Data Cloud platform and underlying software tools, as well as tools and datasets from partners. For the education sector, for example, these include solutions from PowerSchool and Merit. For both sectors, there are tools from Carto and Vantage Point Consulting or from consultants such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Deloitte and Plante Moran.
On the technology front, Government & Education Data Cloud has solutions from AWS, Collibra and Immuta. Furthermore, it meets various security and compliance standards of U.S. government organizations.
