The chatbot will be available to Premium users of the X social media platform starting next week.

Grok-1.5 will be available for use on the X platform “in the next few days.” With the new model, xAI, Elon Musk’s company behind the chatbot, aims to make improvements over Grok-1. In particular, the new model will perform coding and math tasks better. On the benchmark for code generation and problem-solving, Grok-1 still scored 63.2 per cent, but this rose to 74.1 per cent. In math, the new model achieves a score of 50.6 per cent in the MATH benchmark, significantly higher than its predecessor’s 23.9 per cent.

A new feature of Grok-1.5 makes it possible to process longer and more complex prompts by following instructions closely.

X must increasingly become an all-in-one platform that offers more than just a social media brand. A capable chatbot is part of that these days. A few weeks ago, the option to make audio and video calls via X was added to expand its capabilities.

A premium subscription costs €11 a month or €114.99 a year. Previously, access to Grok still required a Premium+ subscription, which costs €24.99 per month or €264.99 per year.

Competition

Musk made Grok open-source earlier this month, which is seen as a response to his criticism of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. He disagrees that OpenAI is not following an open-source strategy, which he says was the promise made when OpenAI was founded. Musk was involved in OpenAI at a very early stage.

The top executive now also claims on X that Grok-2, the model currently being trained, will surpass all AI in every field. Besides coding and math, language comprehension of an LLM is a key benchmark to show performance.
