Anthropic and Infosys to build customized AI agents

Anthropic and Infosys have announced a strategic partnership to develop custom AI agents for large enterprises in sectors including telecoms, financial services, manufacturing, and software development.

The partnership responds to growing demand from companies for artificial intelligence that can not only support tasks but also independently execute complex processes within highly regulated environments.

The core of the partnership lies in the combination of Anthropic’s Claude models, including Claude Code, with Infosys Topaz, Infosys’ AI-focused services and platform offering. By integrating these technologies, the companies aim to help organizations develop software faster, further automate workflows, and deploy AI in a controlled and transparent manner. The latter is particularly essential for sectors where regulation, compliance, and risk management play a central role.

The initial focus is on the telecom sector, where AI agents can help modernize network operations, simplify customer processes, and improve service delivery. At a later stage, the collaboration will be extended to other sectors, such as financial services, manufacturing, and software development. In these domains, AI agents will assist with risk assessment, compliance processes, product design, simulations, and writing and testing code, among other things.

Sector knowledge as a prerequisite for reliable AI

Both parties emphasize that there is often a big difference between an AI model that works in a demonstration and a solution that functions reliably in production. According to Anthropic, in-depth sector knowledge is needed to make AI suitable for environments where precision and regulation are crucial, while Infosys brings that experience from its long-standing involvement with large companies.

Infosys states that the collaboration is intended to make companies not only more efficient, but also more resilient and responsible in their use of AI.

The announcement underscores the increasing competition among AI developers to gain a foothold with enterprise customers. Companies are increasingly asking for sector-specific solutions that go beyond generic chatbots and can actually take over processes. For Infosys, the news was well-received by investors, with its share price rising sharply following the announcement.

With this collaboration, Anthropic and Infosys are positioning themselves emphatically in the enterprise AI segment, with a focus on agentic AI that can independently execute multi-step processes and help organizations both innovate and modernize existing IT landscapes.
