Amazon acquired healthcare provider One Medical. The commerce giant wants to expand in the medical market.

Amazon will pay a total of €3.8 billion for One Medical. The deal includes the entire business, all data and debts. One Medical offers physical and virtual doctor services to customers. Patients purchase an annual subscription and receive an app for same-day appointments in more than 100 clinics throughout the US.

Personal care and technology

The healthcare provider focuses on personal care and technology, which appealed to Amazon. The commerce giant says it wants to further improve healthcare efficiency.

Amazon has been active in healthcare for some time. In 2018, it acquired online pharmacy PillPack, leading to prescription delivery service Amazon Pharmacy. In 2019, it acquired Health Navigator, a healthcare software specialist that now supports employee health service Amazon Care.
