Kali Linux 2022.4 is now available. The release includes new features and tools, as well as Azure images and desktop updates.

Kali Linux 2022.4, the fourth and last version of 2022, has been released. The update contains new QEMU and Azure images, tools and enhanced desktop experiences.

The Kali Linux distribution was developed for network penetration tests, security audits and cybersecurity research. The team provided various new features in the latest update, including a driver for Hak5’s Wi-Fi Coconut, Windows NTLM relay tools and a Windows privilege escalation tool.

Users can now launch the image and carry out penetration tests from the cloud thanks to Kali Linux’s inclusion in the Azure Marketplace.

Kali Linux 2022.3 was the first version to reach Azure. The team confirmed its release on August 30, quite some time after Kali Linux 2022.3 was made available. Like its predecessor, Kali Linux 2022.4 is available on Azure.

Additionally, the team included a QEMU image in its pre-generated image offering. “We hope this makes it easier for the people who use self-hosted Proxmox Virtual Environments (VE), virt-manager or libvirt“, the developers said.

Kali NetHunter Pro

In addition to the OS update, the team released Kali NetHunter Pro, a bare metal installation of Kali Linux that comes with Phosh, a desktop environment optimized for mobile devices. “Kali Linux and NetHunter are entering a fresh chapter”, the team said.

“First of all, we’re making SD card images for the PinePhone and the PinePhone Pro available to dual boot alongside the main OS. Soon we will release alternative versions with Plasma Mobile as well as installers so you can install Kali NetHunter Pro onto the internal flash memory.”

Kali NetHunter Pro is a spinoff of Kali NetHunter, the regular software version. In addition to the release of Kali NetHunter Pro, the regular version was updated with internal Bluetooth support, audio support for Kex, enhanced Wardriving and fixes for Android crashes.

Availability

Kali Linux 2022.4 is now available through fresh and update-only ISO images. The update can also be installed through a command shared on the announcement page.
