Dell is launching the Pro Precision 7 R1, a 1U rack-mounted workstation designed for compact spaces. The system runs on Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors and Nvidia RTX PRO Blackwell GPUs up to 300W. It supports up to 128 GB of DDR5 ECC memory and up to 64 TB of storage.
Anyone who needs workstation performance in a data center, at the edge, or in an industrial environment can now turn to Dell for a compact rack-mounted model. The Pro Precision 7 R1 is aimed at engineers, data scientists, and developers who want secure, remote 1:1 connections.
The machine is part of Dell’s broader workstation portfolio, brought together under the Pro Precision name. That lineup now ranges from thin mobile models to enterprise towers. There is also a revamped Pro Precision line, with an emphasis on AI, featuring a rack-mounted model that offers the ultimate in space savings.
What fits in the 1U
At its core are Intel Core Ultra Series 2 desktop processors, combined with Nvidia RTX PRO Blackwell GPUs. According to Dell, this includes the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Workstation Edition, which consumes up to 300W. This should enable the system to handle AI inference, 3D rendering, and visualizations. The DDR5 ECC memory supports up to 128 GB.
There is space for up to 64 TB of storage, distributed across two lockable bays at the front, plus three PCIe slots. Reliability is ensured by two redundant 800W power supplies. If one fails, the system continues to run. According to Dell, the device is suitable for ambient temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius.
Dell announced the device as one of many AI Factory expansions at Dell Technologies World last May. There, the company also unveiled a new PowerRack, cooling solutions in the form of the PowerCool CDU C7000, and the Dell AI Ecosystem Program featuring partners such as Google, OpenAI, and Palantir. The rack-mounted workstation fits within this turnkey rack approach.
