New capabilities will deliver seamless, scalable and simplified Edge-to-Core-to-Cloud Management

Hitachi Vantara has introduced new enhancements and capabilities to its hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) product line with updates to Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) HC and Hitachi UCP RS. Vantara is the digital infrastructure and solutions subsidiary of Hitachi.

The latest updates provide a range of added benefits to customers. These include faster provisioning with new Hitachi UCP Advisor as well as certified support for SAP HANA workloads. There is also a new Intel Cascade Lake Xenon Refresh processors that increase performance.

COVID drives need for capacity to handle remote working

Bobby Soni, president, Digital Infrastructure, Hitachi Vantara, explained the rising need for capacity and speed due to Coronavirus. “There is no doubt that COVID-19 will leave everlasting impacts on how people around the world do business and live their day-to-day lives”.

“For IT, this means supporting larger mobile and remote workforces with federated collaboration, an elevated focus on infrastructure resiliency and cybersecurity, and accelerated digital transformation initiatives.”

Hitachi customers can accelerate innovation, improve productivity and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) across a variety of use cases. Vantara’s HCI portfolio is updated with enhanced day 0-2 management capabilities including upgraded lifecycle management. This enables non-disruptive upgrades for the full HCI stack, including IP and SAN network switches.

Focus on the need for speed

The enhancements released this week all aim to deliver greater speed. All the new HC boxes except one support Optane in Persistent Memory (DIMM form). This expands memory in SSD form for use as a cache tier. The GPU-supporting V225G supports Optane in SSD form only.

The UCP HC line features clusters of up to 64 x 1U and 2U nodes – Hitachi Vantara servers with Cascade Lake Xeon Refresh processors. Different models support all-flash, all-NVMe flash, and hybrid flash/disk storage media. All the models support vSphere and vSAN.

Hitachi Unified Compute Platform HC and Hitachi Unified Compute Platform RS are available now from Hitachi Vantara and its global network of business partners.
