Google has obtained some new security certificates for Google Cloud. With these, the products are approved for use by government organisations in several new countries.
With the new certificates, Cloud DNS has been added to the list of Google Cloud products that comply with the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), SiliconAngle writes. It also now has certificates for use in several European, Canadian and Asian government agencies.
German government certificates
Other Google products have also received security certificates. For example, the Federal Office for Information Security in Germany has issued a certificate that adds Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace to the Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue.
Certificates in Asia and Australia
In India, Google Cloud now meets the security requirements of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Google Cloud has also passed similar tests in Japan and Australia. In Indonesia, Google has published Google Cloud GR 71 mapping. Public sector customers can use this to check whether their use of Google Cloud complies with GR 71. GR 71 is a local law regarding the use of electronic systems. Finally, Google now also complies with the Thai Information Security Standard for Meeting Control Systems.
Stringent requirements of American government bodies
In America, government organisations are now allowed to use a broader set of Google Cloud services and are assured that the services meet all requirements. Google has set up Assured Workloads for Government for the public sector. This allows customers to easily set up environments that comply with US laws for data storage location and staff access. It also meets the stringent requirements of the US Defence Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations Criminal Justice Information Services Division.
Leading audits and certifications maintained
“In addition to public sector compliance, we continue to maintain our industry-leading audits and certifications for customers, including recertification of our compliance against ISO/IEC 27001/27017/27018 and SOC 1/2/3,” said Mike Daniels, vice president Google’s Global Public Sector. “We also recently added Apigee certificates for BSI C5, PCI-DSS, and SOC 1/2/3, as well as the AppSheet SOC 2 report, to our self-serve portal.”
