Now that an early version of Windows 10X has been leaked, more and more images of the upcoming operating system are popping up on the internet. The pictures show a simplified and limited interface.
From the pictures, shared by Thurrott, some quirks and features can be deduced. It appears that it is not possible to place files or shortcuts on the desktop. When a user right-clicks on the desktop, they only get the option to change the background.
There is also a new login screen. The design of the login screen has been simplified compared to the full version of Windows 10, with only the user’s name and profile picture and a text field for entering a PIN.

In Windows 10X, it is still possible to use alt-tab to switch between windows, although the appearance of the task changer has been slightly modified. There are also more images of the new Start menu and screenshots that show how Excel files are opened within the Edge browser.
Very similar to ChromeOS
Last week, a pre-release version of Windows 10X was leaked. The operating system appears to be very similar to Googles ChromeOS and also seems very similar in functionality.
It is not yet known when Windows 10X will be released, but we probably don’t have to wait much longer. Users will not be able to install it on their own computers; instead, it will come with new laptops and other devices. No announcements have yet been made as to which companies will be offering these devices.
