‘Google’s GPT-4 competitor Gemini appears this year’

Google is secretly testing Gemini, the new AI model that should become generally available this year. The Gemini AI model should be the answer to OpenAI’s GPT-4.

The arrival of the Google Gemini AI model, in addition to the existing PaLM 2 model, has been announced for some time. Recently, Google shared details of the Gemini AI model. According to Business Insider, the status of the Gemini AI model is now several steps further. By now, demos of the model are reportedly being tested in secret, and the model should become generally available this year.

Gemini AI model

Gemini is a next-gen multimodal AI model that can handle multiple types of data. This new AI model could simultaneously process images and text, which are converted into data for written analysis and visual graphs. The AI model’s coding functionality should match that of Microsoft Copilot, based on GPT-4.

Gemini combines the functionality of several AlphaGo-type systems with the NLP capabilities of other Google LLM models. AlphaGo was developed by Deepmind, which is now part of Google’s AI operations.

Perhaps better than GPT-4

With Gemini, Google wants to offer companies an alternative to OpenAI’s GPT-4. Hearing back from companies now testing Gemini, The Information indicates the new Google AI model has many more advantages than GPT-4.

This is partly due to the large amount of consumer product data available to Google. The model also gets a lot of data from the internet. In addition, the Gemini AI model would better understand users’ intentions. Furthermore, the Gemini model would have fewer hallucinations. The latter should be good news for Google because during the launch earlier this year of Google Bard, the AI chatbot still suffered from giving incorrect answers.

Once the Gemini model is extensively tested and has the right security, it will be available in different versions and with different functional options, just like PaLM 2. According to Business Insider, the release would still be in 2023.
