Salesforce plans to develop a cloud service for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). CNBC reports the news based on anonymous sources.
According to CNBC, CEOs Marc Benioff and Bret Taylor shared the plan during an employee meeting. The service would allow artists to create and publish content on a digital marketplace similar to OpenSea.
Salesforce allegedly considers allowing NFTs to be traded and owned in the Salesforce ecosystem. Though Salesforce has yet to respond to the rumours, the tech giant has previously shown interest in the matter. Late last year, Mathew Sweezey (director of market strategy at Salesforce) stated he expected big brands to embrace NFTs in the near future.
NFTs
NFTs are non-exchangeable, irreplaceable property certificates attached to digital items using blockchain technology. These digital items are, for example, works of art or video game items. Owners of NFT can prove they’re owners through the cryptographic token associated with the NFT.
