The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build (version 25163) offers more room for applications on the taskbar.

Taskbar management was improved. A new button opens an ‘overflow’ menu. The overflow menu shows the icons of applications that don’t fit on the traditional taskbar.

Users essentially have more taskbar space for open apps. An improvement over the current system, which only displays the most recently used applications and hides the rest.

Nearby sharing

In addition to taskbar improvements, the Windows 11 Insider Build adds Nearby Sharing functionality. The tool is similar to Apple’s AirDrop and uses a combination of UDP and Bluetooth to locate devices on a local network. The network must be set to private for Nearby Sharing to work.

It’s uncertain whether the functionality will make it to the Windows 11 live release. The functionality first has to go by the Beta and Release Preview channels.
