Cloud Software Group, the parent company of Citrix, NetScaler and TIBCO Software, reportedly laid off thousands of employees. Website CRN broke the news based on Twitter posts from Citrix staff.

According to CRN, the layoff round involves thousands of employees at the software giant and its subsidiaries, including a large part of Citrix’s commercial organization. Channel, network, application and delivery employees are said to be affected.

It’s unknown if and how TIBCO Software and other subsidiaries were hit. Cloud Software Group has not commented on the claims at the time of writing.

Mass layoffs

Citrix was acquired by private investment firms Evergreen Coast Capital and Vista Equity Partners in late September 2022. The virtualization and cloud firm subsequently merged with TIBCO Software and moved under the Cloud Software Group umbrella.

The tech sector has been facing mass layoffs as of late. Salesforce, Amazon, Meta and others announced the termination of tens of thousands of employees over the past few months, frequently citing harsh macroeconomic conditions.
