Pegasystems has announced support for Kubernetes. This solution enables container orchestration for Pega users on AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Pivotal and Red Hat.

According to the company itself, the expansion is the result of the importance that Pega attaches to its Pega Cloud Choice Guarantee, for customers who want to manage their Pega applications themselves with a cloud provider of their choice. The Pega Cloud Choice Guarantee-program allows customers to be flexible in their choices, because they are not dependent on one cloud provider. Pega applications can therefore run either on fully managed Pega Cloud Services or on a Pega-certified cloud infrastructure.

Pega also supports Kubernetes services from cloud providers, including AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Microsoft Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Pivotal Container Service (PKS) and Red Hat OpenShift. This support means that Pega customers can host their Pega applications with the cloud providers listed above, while also using Kubernetes for container orchestration.

Containerisation

According to Pega, containerisation has changed the way organisations manage their cloud applications. Today, organisations want the flexibility and scalability that Pega Cloud Services offers for their cloud deployments by fully managing the platform, allowing businesses to focus on other things.

“As organisations continue to move into the cloud, they want a modern cloud architecture that gives them the flexibility and cost control to succeed in today’s rapidly changing market,” Derk-Jan Brand, VP and Managing Director Benelux & Nordics at Pegasystems, said. “Pega understands that the needs of all customers can be different, so we offer them powerful ways to manage their cloud deployments without excluding any options. By supporting Kubernetes, we can continue to provide the flexibility our customers need to run their applications. At the same time, they remain assured of future-proof technology as their business grows.”
