Barracuda is a provider of cloud-enabled security solutions. In a recent report they released on June 11th, more information emerged about the adoption of SD-WAN.

The report is titled ‘Secure SD-WAN: The Launch Pad into Cloud,’ and was commissioned by Barracuda. The research surveyed global IT decision-makers to get their take and opinion about the adoption of SD-WAN.

The scope

It includes responses from individual contributors, 750 executives, and team managers who are responsible for or understand an organization’s cloud infrastructure.

The information was sourced from organizations varying in size and including the US, APAC, and EMEA. In summary, the study seems to be pointing to the fact that adoption rates for public cloud, are growing. Security remains the major roadblock.

It is understandable, given the fact that volume and variety in terms of threat are rising.

Highlights in the report

  • Integration of SD-WAN into the Public Cloud, remains the most preferred solution- Of the respondents, 23% have already deployed SD-WAN, and 52% are either processing their deployment or are on track to do so, within the next 12 months.
  • The variations of SD-WAN by Industry are significant. Financial services have the most adoption, and the public sector comes in last.
  • Microsoft Azure is the most preferred public-cloud platform, more than Amazon AWS and Google GCP.
  • Most acquisitions of SD-WAN is via a cloud provider rather than from an independent vendor or telecommunications partner.

SD-WAN is critical in making sure that cloud deployments are secure. Organizations can get the best out of the public cloud by deploying an all-in-one, SD-WAN solution that’s natively built into the public cloud.
