Dropbox has announced its plans to release a free variant of its password manager. The free version has the same features as the paid version but limits the number of stored passwords and logged-in devices.

In terms of functionality, the free version corresponds to the paid version that Dropbox announced last year. It works similar to other password managers: your passwords are automatically refreshed at login pages and synchronised with the cloud so you can access them on other devices.

Up to 50 passwords

The free version is limited to 50 passwords and can be synchronised with up to three devices at once. Users who want to store more passwords need to subscribe to Dropbox. This subscription costs 9.99 euros per month, but also offers 2TB of cloud storage. Alternatively, there is a family subscription for 14.99 euros per month, which can be shared by up to 6 users.

Dropbox plans to release the free version of its password manager in April. The company also mentioned plans to add the feature to share passwords with others in the future.

In addition to a password manager, Dropbox last year also announced some other features for customers who pay for Dropbox Premium. For example, the company came out with Dropbox Vault, a method of storing documents with extra security. Also, the backup options in Dropbox were improved.
