Veeam Software, a data protection company, launched a new version of its Kasten by Veeam data management platform with better experiences that enhance edge capabilities and expand ecosystem support for partner technologies and data services.

Kasten K10 v4.5 brings new capabilities that include features for Kubernetes DevOps teams and admins.

Among the changes is an enhanced out-of-the-box experience that offers a complete set of tools to properly deploy, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot Kubernetes environments. Including pre-integrated tools in the new release is said to help cut down on ‘time to market’ for new deployments.

v4.5

The pre-integrated tools also make it easy for users to select the right tools available in the Kubernetes ecosystem to avoid dependency on one vendor. Coverage for Kafka, Apache, K8ssandra, Cassandra, and Amazon RDS is included.

Edge support and improved data security have also gotten a boost in the latest release with support for secure and reliable data backup and recovery wherever needed.

Adding K3s and EKS Anywhere Kubernetes distros allow enterprises to secure all edge apps from data loss, corruption, or malicious attacks. Kasten K10 v4.5 has expanded ecosystem support with additional features and capabilities.

A smoother experience

The release also aims to make it easier for customers to access and buy Kasten K10 supported solutions from Veeam’s marketplace and partner organizations.

For Kube clusters running on VMware vSphere, Kasten K10 v4.5 adds to the value of existing Veeam investments by supporting shared Veeam Backup and Replication storage repositories. Backup target support for more storage types now includes ReFS, XFS-formatted block storage, Cisco S3260, deduplication appliances, HPE Apollo servers, and SMB targets.

As container adoption increase, we will see Kasten become even more crucial in helping with deployment, management, monitoring, and troubleshooting environments.
