Kyndryl is to partner with Microsoft. The two parties intend to develop cloud solutions that enable companies to accelerate their digital transition processes.
Kyndryl was founded by IBM to independently provide managed infrastructure services. Now, Kyndryl enters a partnership with Microsoft. The provider aims to significantly expand its managed services offering, especially for the multicloud. The move’s intended to confirm Kyndryl’s name as a multicloud specialist. The cooperation with Microsoft marks a first step for the company’s own partner ecosystem.
Of course, the collaboration should also bring new sources of revenue for Kyndryl, making it less dependent on the customers it took with it when splitting off from IBM.
The contents of the partnership
The cooperation with Microsoft consists of several elements that will focus on migration to the cloud and digital transformation. For example, both parties will jointly develop applications based on Microsoft Cloud. These applications are intended for both current and future customers.
Both parties will also work together in the field of hybrid cloud, AI and tools for modernizing IT environments. The solutions should make it easier for customers to migrate important workloads. Furthermore, Kyndryl and Microsoft are to establish a co-innovation lab. The results from this lab will be made available through Microsoft AppSource and the Azure Marketplace at a later stage.
Microsoft becomes reseller of Kyndryl
In addition, Microsoft will become the sole Premier Alliance Partner of Kyndryl. The tech giant will start selling the managed services provider’s products and services. Lastly, Microsoft will establish the Kyndryl University to provide a Microsoft training program for Kyndryl’s 90,000-plus employees.
