Teams web app supports live transcriptions in four new languages

Microsoft announced a significant update to the web version of Teams. New features promise to benefit small- and medium-sized companies. Among other things, speech in German, Portuguese, Japanese and Hindi can now automatically be transcribed.

The update brings several features to Teams’ web app. First, language support for live transcriptions is gradually expanding. In addition to the 27 more spoken languages, Microsoft now supports German, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, and Hindi.

Backgrounds

Second, web users can now choose their own backgrounds. During a video meeting or call, you may select a background from Microsoft or blur your background, making the meeting more entertaining and unique. Be aware that changing or obscuring your background might not always manage to hide what’s behind you.

CART captioning

Third, rather than opening a separate window, you can see real-time captions from a CART provider within the Microsoft Teams conference window. You no longer need to pick a presentation and subtitles to keep up with what is being said. CART captions can be enabled for both participants and organizers in the meeting settings.
