Rubrik has announced to set up an integration with NetApp’s SnapDiff APIs. The integration should make it easier to exchange data between data center and cloud.
It is not uncommon as a company to use both on-premise solutions and cloud storage. However, this does mean that data can be stored in both places and can be exchanged between them.
The integration of Rubrik and NetApp should support this. In their own words, the new integration will result in a shorter time-to-market for new functionalities, a higher ROI due to smart data use, and better support for data privacy regulations.
Quick data retrieval
The integration, therefore, offers various advantages for NetApp customers. Thanks to the integration, they can use autonomous, policy-driven data management that is optimised for the cloud.
The integration also offers hybrid multi-cloud data orchestration through an API-driven platform. This should result in consistent workflows and automation. Files can also be easily and quickly retrieved from the data archive.
Compliance and security
The integration also focuses on compliance and security. For example, the integration provides failover/failback solutions for hybrid cloud applications via cloud-native services.
With the integration, Rubrik also provides data compliance and management services to NetApp customers. This gives customers insight into data changes, user rights and access activities. The integration also provides recovery options in the event of ransomware attacks.
Rubrik and NetApp have been working together for a long time. In September, the two companies launched a new data management solution for object storage. This solution combines Rubrik’s user platform with object storage.
The so-called Rubrik Cloud Data Management for NetApp StorageGRID provides users with policy-driven automation, which should simplify aspects of data management. The policy engines not only automate the lifecycle management, but also optimize performance, waiting times and costs.
The solution also helps companies to quickly find and restore virtual machines, databases and files. These assets can be located in all sorts of places, such as Rubrik, StorageGRID or the public cloud.
