Dynabook has introduced new 14-inch Tecra A40-K and 15.6-inch Tecra A50-K laptops with Intel’s 12th Gen “Alder Lake” processors. Depending on your demands, both laptops may be configured with Intel’s P28W CPUs, with vPro and regular versions.

Up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM may be installed in two SODIMM slots, and a 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD can be installed. There’s no dedicated GPU here; instead, Intel Iris Xe or Intel UHD integrated graphics are used. Both are available on Windows 10 or Windows 11 Pro.

These laptops are built to be juggernauts that can sustain use that goes beyond what you’d see in a typical office setting.

The build

The PCs come with an antibacterial coating on the lid, palm rest, and bottom panel, and MIL-STD-810H certification to show their durability.

An IR camera, a webcam cover fingerprint reader, a TPM 2.0 chip, a locking slot, and an additional Smart Card reader are among the security features included. These are both Microsoft Secured-core machines.

Ignoring the size difference, the ports on the A40-K and the A50-K are identical. Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A 3.2 (Gen 1) ports, HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet, a 3.5mm audio combination jack, and a microSD card reader are all included.

For hybrid work

Based on the modem, the wireless connection is either Intel Wi-Fi 6E or Realtek Wi-Fi 6, with Bluetooth 5.0 or 5.2.

The 14-inch display of the Tecra A40-K is available in HD or FHD formats. A TN panel, an IPS panel, or an IPS touch screen are all choices for the latter. The 15.6-inch display on the Tecra A50-K is also available in HD or FHD resolutions, with the higher-resolution screen available in both touch and non-touch.

Both laptops use Dynabook’s Online Meeting software, which uses artificial intelligence to improve video conferencing. Backgrounds are automatically blurred, lighting is adjusted, and your face is kept focused.
