Udemy has acquired CorpU, a platform that facilitates leadership development. The cost of the acquisition has not been disclosed.
Details about the acquisition
Udemy announced its acquisition of CorpU, a digital leadership skills development platform. The deal’s financial terms have not been disclosed. The CorpU platform is used by giants such as BJ’s Wholesale Club, Rite Aid, and CVS Health to train through experts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professional Education, The University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, and Harvard University.
Reasons for the Udemy acquiring CorpU
Greg Brown, Udemy’s Business President, explained how the coronavirus pandemic quickened the need to find new workforce development approaches. He stated: “As a result of this fast-paced change coupled with a shift to hybrid work environments, businesses are actively searching for the best ways to develop leaders and employees in a global, scalable, and accessible way.”
He also added that “CorpU is a powerful addition to strengthen our Udemy Business offering for organizations by elevating leadership development capabilities and helping customers achieve critical business outcomes.”
CorpU allows students to access world-renowned experts and immersive learning environments that are cohort-based. Moreover, they also deliver courses intended to foster leadership, business agility, and innovation.
CorpU makes use of virtual environments so lessons can be tailored to every new group of students. They have also harnessed “the value of group learning, executive and peer coaching and experiential learning activities that tie back to business results.”
The GM and founder of CorpU said organizations have struggled to deliver immersively facilitated virtual training sessions, even though it is crucial for developing leadership skills.
He also stated that Udemy is the perfect business partner for them. This deal will allow them to help companies future-proof their businesses and provide business leaders with the knowledge, capabilities, and tools needed to drive business growth.
