Aptean completed another acquisition a few days before Christmas. The company acquired the UKERP and MES software vendor SI (Systems Integration) trading. The acquisition is meant to give Aptean a more substantial presence in the UK and its food and beverage vertical.

SI serves over 150 customers, mainly in food processing, across Canada, the US, Ireland, and the UK. The company created a modular food ERP and real-time planning software application (Integreater food processing software).

Adding value

Aptean believes that SI will add complementary value and solutions to Aptean’s food and beverage offerings. The SI solution mainly targets the food production and processing industry. The software addresses the three main challenges- regulatory compliance, quality control, and margin improvement.

The software serves industries like:

  • Catering butchers and foodservice
  • Abattoir management
  • Meat processing
  • Cheese and dairy production
  • Poultry processing
  • Snack food manufacturing
  • Fresh produce
  • Fish and seafood
  • Pet food and birdseed manufacturing
  • Recipe managed business
  • Bakery and cake manufacturing

It is evident that in some places, SI and Aptean overlap.

The road ahead

It will be interesting to see the roadmap Aptean has in mind, given that Integreater is not a cloud solution, a service Aptea is proficient at delivering. One of the reasons to invest could be the boosted market share and access to more than a hundred companies that will want to move to the cloud.

SI brings industry expertise to Aptean and a sales team with a keen understanding of the sectors. The press release from Aptean indicates that it plans to expand SI geographically and enhance the product. What will that look like? We’ll wait to find out.
