The Tesla cars’ fatal crashes made the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA) investigate Tesla.

Recently, Tesla has been under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for two recent fatal crashes of Tesla cars.

The first car crash happened recently in California with a 2018 Model 3 Tesla car. The car hit and killed a pedestrian once the driver went through the red light. The vehicle then jarred into the road bump and became hovered.

The second incident took place on the 6th of July in Florida. The victims of this incident include a driver and a passenger, and the crash happened because the car drove into the back of a tractor-trailer.

NHTSA has investigated the fatal crashes to identify the reasons behind them, and the company (Tesla) is also a part of that investigation.

What are the reasons for fatal crashes?

Not only the Tesla cars meet these incidents, but car crashes also happened with other companies’ cars. The reason to investigate Tesla only is its high rate of these accidents.

On investigation of the incidents, NHTSA identified that the autopilot or advanced driver assistance system is the primary cause of car crashes. In the first case, along with the autopilot system, drunk driving seems to be the actual cause.

In the second case, the real cause is unclear. However, the second car seems to be driverless, and the reason detected through information from various constables was the autopilot system.
