When the Surface Laptop 3 is under heavy load, the fan quickly starts to cool down the system. This increases the speed as the core temperature rises. Nothing wrong with this, except for the fact that the fan of the received review machine ratchets so exuberantly and sharply that it starts to irritate after some time. We expect this fan to bump into a plastic plate or tire cable somewhere. It will be a totally innocent phenomenon, but if it was a unit of our own we would definitely have offered it for repair. This brings us with a small bridge to the warranty conditions.
This Intel-based Surface Laptop 3 is primarily focused on the business market. The standard warranty period is two years. Microsoft also informs us that a warranty of up to four years with and without damage claims is offered. This fits in very well with business use and a business depreciation period. At the time of publication Paul Honout, Business Group Lead Devices at Microsoft, informs us that they currently have a Next Business Day service available through the additional ‘Complete for Business Plus’ warranty. As an extra, the customer will also receive online or classroom training on how to use the devices.
