Cisco wants to acquire monitoring specialist ThousandEyes. According to Bloomberg, Cisco is willing to pay 1 billion dollars (901 million euros) for ThousandEyes.

Todd Nightingale, senior vice president of Cisco, states that the deal has been in the making for almost three months now. ThousandEyes’ technology will be used in Cisco’s Enterprise Networking and Cloud services, as well as AppDynamics services. “Customers will gain end-to-end visibility when accessing cloud applications, and Internet Intelligence will improve network reliability and the overall application experience,” Nightingale said.

ThousandEyes

ThousandEyes provides digital experience monitoring software that helps companies optimise the performance of their connected devices. The platform combines data from different sources to create a map of network traffic, so IT teams can determine precisely where data is stuck if there is a connectivity issue.

ThousandEyes says it can also help companies identify potential network vulnerabilities and make more informed decisions about infrastructure investment.

Enterprise Value

The company is supported by several venture capital companies, including Sequoia Capital, Sutter Hill Ventures and Salesforce Ventures. ThousandEyes has raised 110 million dollars (99 million euros) in funding to date, and last year the company’s value was estimated at 670 million dollars (604 million euros).
