WhatsApp is coming out with a new Windows client. The new client has a bunch of new features including end-to-end encryption. It is also now possible to hold group video calls with eight people.

The new version of WhatsApp Desktop for Windows should offer users a better experience. The main upgrade is that the desktop version now allows group video calls with up to eight people. Audio-only group conversations have now been expanded to up to 32 people. All of these conversations are end-to-end encrypted.

The limits for group conversations will be further increased in the near future, Meta’s messaging platform indicates.

Other functionality

Other functionality added to WhatsApp Desktop includes faster device pairing, better synchronization between devices and new features such as link previews and stickers. These improvements are further developments of the multi-device functionality already implemented several years ago.

Other devices

Furthermore, WhatsApp announced it’s introducing a WhatsApp beta version for Android tablets. A new and faster version of the app for Macs is also expected.
