Update: Google Workspace gets Gemini Business and Enterprise plan

Update 22/02/2024 – Google introduces the new Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise plans. The Workspace add-on integrates the chatbot directly into Google applications.

By linking Gemini directly to Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets and Meet, employees could get insights and information more easily. “For instance, if you’re a freelance marketing consultant, you could ask Gemini to help you understand business trends, competitive analysis and forecasting in order to create a go-to-market plan for your client,” Google said. Both Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise use Google’s advanced 1.0 Ultra model.

Enterprise offers additional features, including unlimited chatbot use. This subscription also provides the ability to translate live subtitles during meetings and take notes from each meeting.

To use Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise, a Workspace subscription is required. Gemini Business costs $20 per user per month on top of the regular Workspace fee. For Gemini Enterprise, Google charges $30 per user per month. With the price for Gemini Business, Google is at least below Microsoft, which bills $30 per user per month for a similar product, Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Original – Google’s chatbot is said to be getting two new versions that better suit the needs of businesses with Workspace subscriptions. It is still unclear how Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise differ.

That’s according to a changalog. With Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise, users can access Google’s largest AI model, Gemini 1.0 Ultra. This version is designed for highly complex tasks. In addition, Workspace users receive “enterprise-grade data protections”. Conversations with Gemini are intentionally not used to train the Gemini model, so employees can confidently use the chatbot while maintaining privacy.

The changelog includes a link under the text “upgrade today”. This link points to a Workspace page about Duet AI, also intended for Workspace. This could point to the functioning of Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise: help with writing and organizing in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Chat and Meet, similar to what Duet AI offers.

It looks like Google will charge extra for upcoming versions of the chatbot. Indeed, in the changelog, the company talks about “new Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise plans.” The “upgrade now” text also indicates an additional fee. For Duet AI, businesses in America pay $30 per month/account, possibly Google will follow that price.

Python

The changelog also clarifies the first exclusive feature for Gemini Advanced: the ability to run Python code snippets directly in Gemini’s user interface. This is useful for experimenting and editing code. It can also help verify that the code works as the developer intended.

Tip: Gemini 1.5 is much more than a new foundation model
