SAP is acquiring a majority stake in US-based fintech company Taulia. Taulia’s platform helps suppliers get paid for goods and services at an early stage of the supply chain.

The acquisition promises to increase the capital and cash flow of both SAP and Taulia. SAP hopes to gain a foothold in the market for supply chain financing and ‘working capital’ loans.

Supply chain finance

Taulia offers so-called supply chain financing and working capital loans. For this purpose, the company cooperates with banks and other financial institutions to pay suppliers quickly and early for their deliveries. Taulia develops a platform that facilitates payments. Fintech companies use the platform to find and acquire loans based on their assets and liquidity.

Integration into SAP solutions.

SAP already offers supply chain finance through its Ariba portfolio. The closer collaboration with Taulia will allow it to increase its market share. The ERP giant plans to integrate the fintech company’s supply-chain finance and working capital solutions into the SAP Business Network and SAP CFO suite.

Taulia will continue to operate independently.
