IBM launches migration service for on-prem SAP workloads to S/4HANA

IBM and SAP are strengthening their partnership. The pair is introducing ‘IBM for RISE with SAP’, a set of tools and consulting services for migrating on-premises SAP workloads to S/4HANA in the IBM Cloud.

ERP system SAP S/4HANA hs a handful of deployment options. ‘Any Premises’ licenses are popular among large companies, allowing workloads to run in a location of their choice: proprietary data centers, SAP’s data centers and cloud providers’ data centers. IBM, one of the cloud providers, supports SAP S/4HANA in the IBM Cloud.

Today, IBM and SAP expanded their collaboration with a new service. ‘IBM for RISE with SAP’ is designed for organizations that want to migrate on-premises SAP workloads to the IBM Cloud. Users pay a monthly subscription and receive consulting and technology to migrate workloads.

Furthermore, IBM is introducing ‘BREAKTHROUGH with IBM for RISE with SAP’. This subscription is suitable for organizations that do not yet have SAP S/4HANA environments, or want to expand a limited environment with IBM’s help.

The broader RISE with SAP portfolio

SAP works with multiple cloud providers to provide subscription services for migrations and transformations. IBM is one of the options in the ‘RISE with SAP’ portfolio. AWS, Google and Microsoft also offer consulting and technology for migrations to S/4HANA in their respective cloud environments.
