Meta revealed an updated Facebook app that closely resembles TikTok. The update will be pushed to users next week.

The tab features a ‘Suggested for You’ option that brings users to content unrelated to their page. The design is highly similar to TikTok.

Earlier this month, part of the release was leaked in a memo drafted by Facebook’s executives. The memo explained that a ‘Discovery Engine’ would play a significant role in the app’s future, which takes shape in the new ‘Suggested for You’ frame. The idea resembles TikTok’s ‘For You’ function.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is the saying that Meta has long embraced. However, over the past few years, Facebook has been confronted by the explosive growth of TikTok, which uses impressive algorithms to determine the content that users view. Meta’s ‘Discovery Engine’ is following suit.

Chronological feed

According to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, one of the most frequently requested Facebook updates is a function that prevents users from missing friends’ posts. Facebook added a Feeds tab where you can view posts from friends, groups, pages and other users in chronological order.

The Facebook app update will be rolled out globally over the next week.
