Microsoft rolled back the Enterprise Channel version 2206 update for Microsoft 365. The update caused Office applications to crash in several environments. Microsoft advises customers to revert to Enterprise Channel version 2205.

The crashes occur when users view a contact card or hover over a username or photo. These actions are commonplace when opening emails, reading comments and browsing shared documents. According to a report by BleepingComputer, the applications crash with 0xc0000005 and 0xc0000374 exception errors.

Problems known

Microsoft identified the problem and issued a MO412229 advisory. The tech giant states that the update was withdrawn. Microsoft is collecting diagnostic error data to determine the cause of the problems.

The tech giant advises customers that installed the update to revert to version 2205. A rollback should fix the issues. Rollbacks can be performed through the Microsoft 365 admin center. Microsoft issued a series of detailed instructions.
