Poly’s new Blackwire 8225 headset features active noise-cancelling to filter ambient noise and is integrated with Teams. The plug-and-play USB headset is designed to reduce distractions in the workplace.

Poly, which came out of the merger of Polycom and Plantronics, announced a new headset in the Blackwire product line. The new Blackwire 8225 is a simple USB headset for home and office calls. The headset has three new active noise-cancelling (ANC) options to reduce background noise dramatically. This functionality may not be perfect, as the earcups of the headset are on-ear instead of over-ear, which makes noise scanning more effective.

In addition to the noise-cancelling headphones, the Blackwire 8225 also features a noise-cancelling microphone that uses Poly’s proprietary Acoustic-fence technology. This technology automatically reduces annoying background noise, such as talking people and barking dogs, ensuring that the user’s voice comes across clearly.

Microsoft Teams

The Blackwire 8225 headset also includes support for Microsoft Teams. The headset has a dedicated Teams button that gives direct access to the desktop application, allowing users to participate in meetings and other calls quickly. In addition to Teams, the headset is also compatible with other well-known video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Skype.

The headset can is easy to manage from an additional SaaS solution called Plantronics Manager Pro. With this solution, IT teams can remotely install new firmware, set language preferences and monitor the usage of the headset by employees.

The Poly Blackwire 8225 comes in different versions, such as classic USB A models or the newer USB C models. Also, some headsets do not have Microsoft Team integration. The recommended retail price is 210 dollars (187 euros).
