An incorrect firmware update for HP OfficeJet printers is causing them to crash to a blue screen. The tech giant says it is busy fixing this shortcoming.

A firmware for HP OfficeJet printers released earlier this month is causing problems, writes Bleeping Computer. The update causes a blue screen and error code “83C0000B” on the built-in touchscreen. This causes the printer to get stuck in its print jobs.

HP OfficeJet 902X0 series

The affected HP printers are specifically the OfficeJet 902x models. Affected printers include the HP OfficeJet Pro 9022e, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9020eAll-in-One and the HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer.

The problems occur in a wide range of countries. Think US, UK, Germany, Australia, Poland, New Zealand, France, but also in the Netherlands. According to the tech giant, however, it only concerns a limited number of affected end users.

Solution not yet at hand

The tech giant is currently working hard on a solution, the support site reports. Nevertheless, many affected end users complain of poor communication. When a definitive solution to the printer crashes caused by the bad update will become available is still unknown.
